George Edwin Stuart is an archaeologist, collector, cartographer, writer, editor, administrator, and scholar of the ancient Maya. He received a BS in geology from the University of South Carolina (1956), an MA in anthropology from George Washington University (1970), and a PhD in anthroplogy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1975).
